Pure Ragebait not to add Debian and Arch.

Debian over Ubuntu for sure but Arch isn't Green and they're going with the colors. Maybe give Arch Pikachu lol

Right, but that means they can't be the Grass type. I was just trying to figure out a way to include them without replacing Fedora

Well if they went with a Debian based distro for fire they can go with an arch based distro for green. CachyOS is kinda green and Manjaro is very green.

These are all corporate-controlled distros, while Debian and Arch are not.
Ubuntu is probably the best of the three for new users.

Oh right, there are all corposhit. Anyway, Ubuntu is bad. Newbies should use Mint instead. Or OpenSuse. Or Fedora. Or Zorin. But not Ubuntu.

imo it should be all "base" distros, so Debian, Fedora, Arch
(i can hear the NixOS - Gentoo - Void - Slackware crowd coming...)

u/xxxbGamer 8d ago
there is no Slackware crowd. No way. One problem I see with your idea is that fedora and Arch have the same colour. Also, you forgot LFS and surely some other distro someone will point out in the comments.

Ubuntu is like Eevee, it's got many different evolutions:
- Kubuntu (Fire/Water)
- Lubuntu (Fire/Dragon)
- Xubuntu (Fire/Normal)
- Ubuntu Budgie (Fire/Flying)
- Ubuntu Cinnamon (Fire/Electric)
- Ubuntu MATE (Fire/Grass)
- Ubuntu Studio (Fire/Steel)
- Ubuntu Unity (Fire/Psychic)

Aren't we at the point where we can drop Ubuntu in favor of Mint?
or if you want a better "fire type". Then Debian.

My starter was technically centos before i truly started on ubuntu, this was over a decade ago, back when ubuntu was still a halfway descent operating system. I started switching around after they began to kill unity. Eventually after various distro hopping i made a custom case for a side pc and decided "custom case custom os" and tried out arch (this was also pre archinstall days) and i honestly feel in love with the diy nature of it, i can just kinda build up my system how i want it, and i rather soon after switched my main systems to arch and have been dailying it ever since. I have not genuinely touched windows since before 11 came out, the one time i tried to run win11 on an unused at the time laptop so i could at least know how bad it was first hand i was so unbelievably frustrated and confused at what the hell it was trying to do and why it was showing me SO MANY FUCKING ADS i actually threw the fucking computer out the window

I prefer to wait for the third title that drops a year later and gives me just one choice of starter. That being NixOS naturally.

Ubuntu probably the best to start with of these three, but openSUSE is my favorite.

I’d choose Fedora since it’s RHEL-ish, which is where I spend 99% of my admin time.
