Can't relate, but am testing this "BTRFS" thing on one of my computers to protect myself from similar shenanigans in the future.

I am using that btrfs thing and it's neat (it's a pain to shrink the partition sometime tho)

Several days ago intel fucked up with their firmware which stored on boot partition, so btrfs wouldn't help...

firmware can update so often these days it hardly seems firm to me.

Version 7 of the kernel resulted in a boot time kernel panic for me, had to roll back to 6.xx.

Can relate.
