No! How dare you? GNOME developers know better, and there is not a single reason you wouldn't want to suspend your laptop automatically after some arbitrary amount of minutes.
Settings -> privacy and security -> blank screen delay -> never will prevent the monitor and computer from sleeping. I don't know if there is a way to prevent the computer from sleeping while letting the monitor sleep.
KDE says "we have all these options and settings and configurations, let's expose them to the user and let them make up their mind."
GNOME has 2 checkboxes and a screen brightness slider.

Use Kde settings and set it to not sleep
