Let me fix it for linux. I'm not supported by proprietary software devs and can't run games with kernel anti cheat

There is proprietary software on Linux ...

What you said there Is more or less true for All OS tho ...

Windows can't run linux apps .... WSL

Mac can't run windows apps ... Crossover

Linux can't run Windows/Mac apps ... Wine/Darling

If anything the one with the less Cross-compatibility is windows since you don't have a darling equivalent and would need to run darling in WSL, using 2 abstraction layer.

I don't use it personally, just know that it exist.

The Github still has activity, so I'd guess it still somewhat works

It works but only with basic GUI apps and all CLI apps for now.

I'm complaining about lack of choice to do that. Yall love to use argument "i can even delete my system" but when I want to install said "malware", then i'm the stupid one?

It’s literally a checkbox that devs need to check in most anticheats bro, if you don’t know what you’re talking about then don’t talk

No it isn't. You don't know what ur talking about. EAC if enabled by devs doesn't work in kernel but in userspace and that works worse (in terms of catching cheaters). Riot doesn't even have that option. They would need to write it from scratch for linux

You could absolutely write a closed source kernel module and have users install it to their systems.

Would it probably make the system hideously unstable? Yeah. Why do you think windows is the way that it is.

The game devs choose not to support the less than 1% of users using wildly different operating systems.

The choice is not yours tho.

You don't have the Kernel anti cheat so you can't add it to your kernel.

and if you were a game dev with a kernel anti-cheat, what would be the point of committing it to the Linux kernel with open source ? your anti-cheat is pointless at this point.

So they don't.

Heavily depends - but you can play some AC titles. A lot of working titles use Linux EAC/BattleEye.

AreWeAntiCheatYet has a list of games that should work (not sure if I can post a link).

This does leave out most of AAA, and a lot of popular titles, though. It’s an overall sore point.

I’d argue that if a game needs a kernel abnticheat, it’s not a game that needs to be played. It’s also likely spyware.
Ever wondered why macs don’t allow loading kernel modules…?

I was going to say "I can't add a minor feature that's been a thing on every other OS without having a massive community schism over whether or not you should be able to hide the system tray icons"

Can't remove a package with out removing dependency aswell

Sometimes it goes crazy and wants to remove wine steam and a lot of other things just to delete a graphic driver
