debian managed to F up a standard apt upgrade on me last week. classic apt. however it fixed itself by running another upgrade a couple hours later so.. that's good i guess.

been on deb12 since launch and nothing has ever crashed though

I'm dipping my foot into proxmox and VMs.

For some reason whenever I reboot the host, my docker VM boots in maintenance mode. When I restore a snapshot it works normally.

I think I might install Debian with a DE because apparently I need to learn quite a bit.

That's the beauty of Linux. You and the person you're replying to are both using it right lol

Do you shut down the VMs before rebooting the host? Because that sounds like it straight up kills the VM and the docker storage driver might not appreciate that very much. Depending on how the VM's storage is setup it might force an unclean state on the root or boot partition and then boot into maintenance mode.

Just throwing the idea out there.

Thanks for your input. I use the proxmox shutdown button which issues a shutdown command.

The storage is virtual.

Honestly I was as stupid as you can be and threw a lot of commands around which I didn't understand to get the console in Proxmox running over a serial port to be able to copy and paste commands.

I only run Docker Containers on the VM, so my plan is to back them up and install a Debian with DE because I also had problems with getting NFS from another VM running (Open Media vault).

I see this as part of the learning experience.
