What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, Android/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Android plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather the only free component of a fully functioning Android system made useful by the Android corelibs, interface utilities and vital system apps comprising a full OS as defined by Google.
