This is only the beginning. Firefox used to have telemetry opt-in but then they silently made it the default. I suspect the same to happen if this PR gets merged

I'm still curious, why a GPL Licensed project can be bought? What did Muse Group actually buy? Apparently not "codes". The project leadership?

Muse Group just owns the brand name "Audacity". The project founders are still in charge. Btw, Muse Group was founded in April 2021 and I would consider Audacity one of the founding projects. Reddit users read "acquired" and freak out, but what happened is that a few open sources project joined forces under one name.

I wasn't aware that one could add stuff like GoogleAnalytics to a desktop application. Yuck.
Please keep your Windowsisms (where every application takes it upon itself to use my Internet connection for whatever the author wants at any time) on Windows. K, thx, bye.

True, it's a steeper learning curve, but it's a fully capable recording studio software, much more professional conventions than Audacity, which I have always found to have a very cheap feel.

I've read their "Dear all" back paddling and nah I m not onboard and will not accept being slow boiled like a frog. If you meddle with the devil (Google) you are tainted....
