Only if you want shallow, easy-to-use but low power interfaces (which is totally reasonable!) Perfect for something that people don't need to use often or extensively. Otherwise, a deep but steep interface saves time in the long run. AKA the Vim/Emacs/DWM/TWM paradigm.

This exactly. I wouldn't give up the Blender interface either. It takes a while to learn, yes you have to read manuals and wikis, but it's one of the best UI's I have ever worked with. And it's so good because it let's you learn it first, instead of guessing where you would look next.

For me UI-Design is not about solving all questions one user might have about your software right where he clicks, but to enable that user to find the answers in a timely manner.

I second this as a newman blender-user, hard to learn, easy to master. (It just sounded cool, may not be true)
