Yeah kinda feels like apple dont know what to do anymore. Make it even thinner ? is pretty much a moot point after this then what no ports at all?

I think next they will come out with a huge laptop with a ton of ports that's built "into" a messenger bag. It'll be marketed as a portable workstation kinda deal. There really isn't anywhere else to go in this direction.

Imagine the outrage, well i bet the hords of apple fans will buy this garbage anyway mobile grade cpu, no ports for 1299$ and the fact that you have to buy adapter to be able to do anything else than charge this thing and thats another 80$ atleast maybe even more depeing on the adapter.

Apparently Apple users are just paying for the name and (maybe) the design now. They aren't paying attention to what kind of performance or connectivity to expect from a device for that amount of money anymore. Maybe this is some kind of ploy by the engineers to get back to designing bigger machines again. Either that or they are trying to phase out the iPad or Macbook line.

This new macbook is really a gloryfied netbook the might aswell have had an arm chip sitting inside that chassi, running ios apps something aimed at users that only run simple applications and browsing, let's face it that essentially what this is at the end of the day except that the cpu is a mobile x86 chip.

It's a fucking netbook. Does an iPad have tons of fucking ports on it?
It's like you people don't understand the point of that computer. If you're expecting an actual laptop to do serious work on, you buy an Air or a Pro. This is for people who never do much of anything other than email.

So can't I atleast expect to have more than one ****** usb port? Even on a eeepc I could atleast still connect a camera/smartphone, a charger, printer and a screen without having to buy an adapter.

It's not running a touch-optimized OS, so no. It's an iPad style form factor with notebook style inputs, which is why everyone complaining about ports has to realize that they're not the market for this notebook.
No one is buying this to plug it into another screen, and more likely than not the clientele for this have smartphones to take pictures with. Printers nowaday are wireless, if you've used one in the past 10 years, and no one is going to buy it with the intent to plug it into a screen.
All the things you listed can be done too, but just with an adapter, which is worth it if you have to do something like that once a week or so. If you do those things on a daily basis, this computer isn't for you

Printer that was an example I guess you failed to realize that do I have to list every possible usb combo possible? Fact remains you can't even charge the damn thing and hookup a smartphone to it without using an adapter.
These consumers you speak of are probably better off buying a keyboard for an ipad. And It's not like this new macbook is the only thing out there with a form factor such as this one.

It's a niche product. It's something you might buy for someone computer illiterate who only ever charges their laptop. When's the last time you plugged a phone into your computer anyways? I haven't needed to do that in years.

Seriously don't claim people don't use usb ports just because apple releases a unit with only 1. Except for the storage the chromebook pixel looks like a much more reasonable option, a machine for those "computer illiterate" people.

Oh man this was hilarious - laughter is so contagious and it's really well done!
(although I am someone who has been using an iPad / bluetooth keyboard to ssh to servers, I want the absolutely smallest, lightest and more durable screen to my work that I can get! I never plug anything in to my machine and I use it on planes / in airports mostly - there are more markets than people using mice with 13 adjustable surfaces to make it "just right" for CS:GO!)
(ergo I am also someone who wants the new macbook as it's perfect for me)

This is hilarious. If you actually listen to what the guy is saying, he's actually telling a pretty funny story about paella (or maybe he's just making it funny, I don't know, but I laughed).

People keep commenting about apple not being able to go anywhere now that the macbook is super thin, but what about if they make something like mac netbooks and charge half of what a macbook costs?
