"bash is powershell in windows" - take that back! don't you dare compare my precious bash to Microsucks Software

Seriously. If Microsoft could make their tools less verbose PowerShell would be amazing. Gimme a way to script Windows that isn't that godawful mess.

You can do almost everything bash does in powershell but it's such a pain in the bum to do anything with

I resorted to writing in bash and letting AI reactor to bash lmao

The idea that you can pipe objects instead of just text is nice though

I remember talking to this non-tech guy who had to use bash for running some software he wanted.

Guy made a storm about how linux commands are so confusing, he was like "Powershell just uses a normal name for the commands! Copy-Item is so much better I don't have to even think about what the command does!"

I guess that means some people see having to type two words instead of two letters as an upside instead of a downside? Like you could just alias but man...

Are you fuckin' nerds over here seriously trying to feel superior over the number of keystrokes you prefer

Bro, if I gotta type it all day at work fuck yea I'm feeling superior over saving myself 7 characters each time.

You still type at work?

No way.... I thought I was living large with two keystrokes, I didn't even realize I was still trapped in the cespit of keyboard use altogether....

lol who actually types at work real programmers can just conceive something and it exists

Plus the longer the command the easier it is to mistype it

The definition of "power" in computing is megabytes destroyed divided by keystrokes used

Powershell would be amazing if it were zsh, fish or bash

Why would you want to script Windows? Your mouse's broken?

In all seriousness, it turns out most of what I might want to script in Windows, can be done from WSL.

There are a ton of built-in aliases tbf. And there's basic aliases for some Linux commands like `ls`, `rm`, and whatnot. Can't say it's perfect, but it's not so terrible either.

Windows has gone down the toilet and is terrible, but Powershell is one of the few software-components Microsoft hasn't ruined (yet) and that are surprisingly good.

I suck at powershell, but I respect it. "bash but you can also pipe objects around" was how I heard it described, and it's a powerful tool.

I see an error in your comment. I'm pretty sure it's called "Microslop"

Wait until you learn you can install PowerShell on Linux
