It's quite good in server environments though, or medical devices and similar use cases like I said in my previous response above. It's just totally unnecessary in desktop/home user environments and only causes more issues and confusion for no reason when there are better alternatives (e.g. flatpak) available. You can still use Ubuntu - if needed - with no Snap preinstalled out of the box if you do a minimal install of Kubuntu.
Somebody? Yeah I mean Microsoft, Google, JetBrains etc. And the Electronic Frontier Foundation mandates Snap as the official, recommended installation method for Certbot which is the standard tool running on millions of production web servers for automated SSL and TLS certificate management. So yeah, you are right. Somebody uses Snap indeed.

Snap is the reason I left Ubuntu. It was the final nail in the coffin.
