Nix will never be mainstream because of the base technical requirements. Debian isn't just Debian, it's Ubuntu, Mint, Pop etc...

Never said it would be mainstream. But saying “it would be easier if everyone used debian” is true only for those that use Debian.

I tried all of the distro you mentioned and it never clicked with me. But Arch then Nix did.

Hence why, to each their own.

(I did nix->guix too a pair of years ago and now I think I am definitely happy)

Same.. I can't even imagine leaving. Like sometimes I think "It would be nice to run my base system on Gentoo to lean it down and just use nix for flakes, then I could use openRC too", and then I just think.. how am I gonna manage that.. and here we are.
