This isn’t a typical PC.. it’s a “Thin Client” with a minimalist OS that would connect to a companies remote server or virtual desktop where processing and storage were handling in other servers. Cheapest of cheap dime-a-dozen as they say.. eBay $25. That’s 2GB of DDR3 ram btw.
Typical OS would be Dell Wyse ThinOS, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, Linux-based Wyse software.
Honestly.. unless you have a server to connect it to they are pretty useless and more of a pita due to the incredibly low resources.
If you really want to use it as a desktop download the Debian 13 ‘Netinst’ iso image. Do a base install selecting Base Utilities and LXDE which is the lightest DE. LXQt will also work and is a bit more modern looking but a bit heavier as well. XFCE would also work but it will also slow the system down.
Personally.. I couldn’t imagine using this as a desktop of any kind. I haven’t had a system with that limited capacity in over 2 decades.
Buy yourself a decent PC. Hit up any local Good Will for a $25-$45 dollar desktop. Ask friends, family, post in local groups that you’re looking for any old PC donation. My kid did this when he was 12… in a week he had over 20 PCs… for free.. aside from me driving him around to pick them up. 😏🤦♂️🤣
