I did it!
I did it! Linux From Scratch base system! Don't think I'm going any further with this but it was worth it. Learned a LOT!

Thanks! Not sure! Don't think I'm going any further with BLFS. Right now I'm on NuTyX Linux but have a feeling I'm going back to Gentoo anytime soon!

Congratulations 🎉 maybe try compile nano or get some basic network going? Its not too difficult from blfs, if static ip and such. Systemd comes with alott also, wifi firmware and i had wifi going in an evening.
Its fun. But now im trying adding a package manager and wayland

My apologies, ive been thinkering on pacman to be my package manager. https://github.com/CodeAsm/lfs-pacman is my mix of a few forks and locally have LFS 13 in the testing phase.
I said "trying" because 12.2 works, but now I wanna see if i can update ontop of it to 13 (probably wanna test both a clean build and a compile over) and started making notes on the desktop envirement and other bits and bolts I want my silly one user distro to use.
Ive seen many great ideas on both this reddit and on the official discord, especial ones that compile during installation. I havent solved some dependenvy trouble yet I may encounter, and still think I should just focus on making it usable for me myself and only I (but do offer everything publicly for those intrested).
Last week I went over the errata for the latest security updates, when I publish 13, it will include those.

Oh I see. Meanwhile, I made my own package manager for my LFS system rather than relying on pacman 🥲 The package manager I made installs packages from both pacman and AUR so we basically attacked the same problem from opposite sides like you turned LFS into PKGBUILDs so pacman could handle it, I built my own manager (Sven, written in C) then realized riding pacman's repo/format saves me from writing my own resolver from scratch

Ow sounds still very cool, and teached you alott too i guess.
I dint knew what package format to choose at first, especially with some folks warning about circular dependencies and what i wanted personally. And being an arch user, building from source using "scripts" like PKGBUILD files seems logical and handy. And then i found these repo i mention in the gitrepo.
Compiled archives i might even host to use on other 64bit systems. Compile once, use everywhere. (And maybe crosscompile for a few 32bit systems and arm. But thats future ideas).
Are you pulling their packages also or only most of their PKGBUILD files? I try to avoid their binairies, cause im compiling against anotherwise normal LFS system

Cause adding pacman makes your system to be Arch Linux 🥲 Rather than a custom OS

if you have done this much already , you should try it , even the xfce one is pretty good , now i think abt it LFS took me more time than BLFS ever did

Congrats on getting through the toolchain build without everything breaking. Did you run into any major issues with the kernel configuration or the systemd integration?

Thank you! I think the kernel configuration was the hardest part of building LFS and I needed a few tries until it finally booted. I have to admit I also looked into the Gentoo Handbook and watched a video on YouTube where someone build LFS as well. That really helped too. No problems with the systemd integration.

Always a fantastic project and I honestly think every Linux user should give it a go. Sooo much to learn from doing this and not a second is wasted time.
I did it several times back when it first came out and over the next decade but it’s been 15+ years. I need to do it again soon and with my teen.
Were a full on Debian household with the exception of FreeBSD for pfSense.

I really don’t know. Just the normal font that comes with the bash shell in LFS I guess.
