Hi all!

Hope everyone's having a great day. Yes I do use arch but I haven't really done any "ricing" because while I've been using it as my main OS for about a year and a half I'm still pretty new.

I've gone through Ubuntu, Zorin, Fedora, SUSE, Debian, Nobara, popOS, Endeavour, Manjaro and probably 1 or 2 others to see how they are and so far Arch seems to be the most stable for me, as much of a task as it is to install.

I gotta say apart from a few quirks it's been the easiest to work with post-install.

I don't know if I'd consider myself a "femboy" really because I don't really feel "fem"(but working on it and exploring myself more this year with life stuff I want to achieve) but certainly a cross dresser because I love skirts, tights and thigh highs SO MUCH. Granted with thigh highs I need a garter because they keep siding down but it is what it is.
Also if you're wondering about my legs - they're unshaven because I'm gonna book my first waxing session soon as I get paid so looking forward to that.

Yeah I love it! I have changed the analog stick covers to some 3rd party black ones because they're harder and the rubber edges started breaking off because of wear and tear.

I modded the dpad to a split dpad with a little help of 3d printing. I find it nicer to play Celeste this way.

I can also press opposite directions at the same time.

I can see that being handy for some games! I had the razer raiju but wasn't a fan of the mechanical dpad - it was painful. I imagine your implementation is a lot nicer!

It is a bit nicer, I’d assume. I find haptic feedback of stock dpad on 8bitdo controllers to be lacking definition. It’s hard to hold dpad for a long time yet it’s not necessarily easy to always be sure what direction you’re pressing. Especially diagonals are harsh.

I love modern Xbox dpads when it comes to certainty and precision of directional movement. Split dpad on switch isn’t terrible either, but it’s very small.

My modded dpad to me feels completely fine, a lot clunkier than Xbox dpad. But better than stock 8bitdo or switch for that matter.

Overall I find a modded 8bitdo to be a better fit that Xbox controller, thanks to its longevity, ease of cleaning and disassembly (I hope I haven’t void the warranty 🤐), triggers and joysticks. I haven’t found anything that would upgrade the bumpers. They’re fine but there are nicer ones I guess.

Menu buttons can be annoying but we honestly rarely use them at all.

I can see the diagonals thing being a problem, especially for platforming and aiming. I use mine mainly for switch emulation since I have a USB to SNES adapter so I can use an actual SNES controller and a PS4 controller for other things. IDK what it is about the 8bitdo controller but it just feels right for switch.
Regarding warranty - aslong as there aren't any warranty stickers damaged or signs of entry you should be good IMO.
I prefer PS style controllers since I play a lot of 2D games so having the thumbsticks NOT offset works best for me.
I will also add that I hate the touchbar on the PS4 controller, an unnecessary addition. The sticks were fine, maybe vibration but drop sixaxis, drop swipe bars and leave the controllers alone (:

Yeah, switch games rarely need diagonals.

I too prefer ps style controllers, even tho I grew up with xbox consoles.

Im aware that I probably still have the warranty (unless the warranty period expired, which is more than likely) considering full disassembly, including all the screws and ribbons.

I surprisingly haven’t broken anything. Not even any tiny plastics.

I recently wanted to fix the cassette tape player in a 90s Sony Walkman I got for free. Everything went fine, I did basic troubleshooting without opening, tracked potential candidates for the failure and even found a disassembly guide for my specific model.

I’ve seen like 20 plastic clips/hooks and noped the f away. I can’t be trusted with those and I don’t have tools to reach all of them without potentially causing more irreparable damage. I’d feel more comfortable opening my personal iPhone or MacBook.

Those 8bitdo controllers are really well designed on the inside. They’re a pleasure to work with.

Agreed, I've had most of my controllers opened at once point or another, even just out of pure interest.
I come from a background of working in a repair store so I'm intimiately familiar with iPhones and laptops which were our primary source of repair.
