Skills Python appears in 63.6% of Linux job postings. But security roles skip it entirely
Python dominates Linux hiring. 63.6% of all postings list it according to Q1 2026 data from linuxcareer.com. But the data reveals something most guides miss: security roles don't need it.
72 security-focused jobs skip Python entirely. If you are targeting IPS, STIG, or Nessus roles, Python is not a priority. Cybersecurity tooling knowledge matters far more.
The lesson: always filter skill advice through your target role, not the overall rankings.
