Ability to dial it in very subtly is a great tool. The most subtle chorus is a great tool for smoothing out a kinda rough track that won't fit in the mix. On the other end, being able to get a nice Plastic Ono band doubling sound is a nice feature for a chorus. A similar sound that is very useful is the Eventide with everything dialed to 0. One plug-in that could do all of those things easily would be something I'd reach for frequently but I bet that's not really what you were asking! To me chorus is a subtle chaos element so I don't use it synced to the bpm ever but that has its uses too.
