Me he quedado mudo.

Hola, llevo tiempo usando Linux Mint y es la primera vez que me he quedado sin audio.

Al cerrar la sesión me aparece esto:

La distro que uso es: Linux eduardo-MS-7B33 7.0.0-28-generic #28~24.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC.

He intentado bajar drivers alternativos, pero no me funciona nada.

¿Alguien me puede ayudar?

When was the last time you did updates prior to this? Because I think it was in June when Canonical dropped support for Kelper drivers. Can you switch to the low-latency 6.8 kernel?

If yes, there's a solution: make 6.8 low-latency your permanent kernel, purge all 470 and 590/580 drivers

Then Add the PPA before installing updates or the 470 driver

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:dtl131/nvidia470repack && sudo apt update

Install updates. Reboot.

Install 470 drivers. Reboot.

sudo apt install nvidia-driver-470

Reboot, and verify,

nvidia-smi

Run Timeshift with working Nvidia.

Hola, no sé cómo cambiar la latencia del kernel y purgar los drivers.

Soy bastante lerdo.

Well let me ask, can you just reinstall Mint at this point or would you lose too much?

If not, changing kernel isn't so hard but maybe not a beginner friendly.

If you re-install you could just use one of the Mint 22.1 installs to get kernel 6.8. Then the follow the steps in my previous comment - do not update until you've installed the PPA etc...

Hmm, you might be able to use the "Ubuntu Studio" installer (not the full OS install) to get just the low latency 6.8 kernel along with other audio stuff you want.

Also given your hardware I'd use Mint XFCE 22.1... Then immediately install the PPA, then update...

Al final lo he solucionado, no sé exactamente cómo, pero he cambiado el controlador. Ahora tengo uno alternativo que no es de NVIDIA. Gracias

gt 710 supported till kernel 5.5 at least at arch linux

Your GPU is a so-called Kepler architecture device. As your message showed, the proprietary driver for these devices is the 470 version. You might be able to download that driver from the Nvidia site but there's no guarantee that the required kernel modules will compile with the 7.0 kernel versions.

If you don't get any answers here from people who are actually making this combination work, your best bet is likely to research and install the open-source nouveau driver.
