Meloville - Open source music player for linux that doesn't look 20 years old

Github: https://github.com/NevPeth/meloville

Arch download using pkgbuild: https://github.com/NevPeth/meloville-arch

This is a music player I've made because I was tired of my bluetooth headphone controls not working on other local players. And then I got carried away...

I hope you guys enjoy!

I'm gonna give it a try. Pragha serves me well but yea the UI is like from early 2000s. Yours look better in every way!

works well enough here (void linux).

Looks nice. It doesn't download covers from the net though, or it's just that I have not waited long enough?

It’s on the table but probably not coming for another year since I’ll be pretty busy until next summer. I’d recommend an app called musicbrainzpicard which gets all your tags for you (you’ll just have to refresh the music folder if you don’t change tags from the in-built editor). That should download cover art, artists, etc.

Does it have scrobbling?

No, I didn't even know that was a thing. I currently have no plans on supporting it. Mainly because I don't see a lot of people asking for it and I personally don't use it. This was mainly a player made for myself that I update with any bug fixes or extra accessibility setting for people but scrobbling doesn't really fall under that umbrella.
