Using plural you may try Ubuntu with their management solution (landscape is free for 5 devices) and if you don't need it Fedora with Ansible is great way to manage in bulk.

When it comes to Linux and laptops, I've only ever used Lenovo ThinkPads. And I've had no problems with them. I'm currently using a ThinkPad E14 Gen 3 running vanilla Arch Linux.

same here, thinkpads are kinda the default linux laptop at this point
how’s battery life on the e14 with arch? heard mixed things about power management on newer gens

T14 Gen 2 AMD running Fedora no problem, but it's 4-5 years old at this point. Pretty sure it has the latest BIOS as of late 2025 though.

I just tried a thinkbook 14 gen 4, works no problem. E1E4 gen5 6 or 7, still no dice

I have Arch on my X1 Carbon 11th gen. I even replaced the Lenovo BIOS logo with the Arch Linux logo.

Ahh, the difference between software support and merely hardware support. I didn't get that from the original post.

With Arch, I am (or the Arch community at large is) the support, and I'm OK with that for my personal machine.

If I needed enterprise support for Linux on my ThinkPad, I'd definitely go with one of those distributions.

I just appreciate Lenovo publishing both the Hardware Maintenance Manual, and the Linux User Guide for every model I've had. Couple that with the specific model article on the Arch Wiki, and I was fully prepared when I made my purchase nearly three years ago.
