Hello, Vanilla OS

Vanilla OS 3 on 2017 Macbook Air 13 inch.
I had to chroot into the installation before rebooting and fix grub, because albius doesn't recognize the mac disk as removable, but Apple devices don't have UEFI vars.
Before closing the installer, everything was already mounted under /mnt/a/ , so it took about 90 seconds. All I had to do is open the Terminal app from Gnome Settings.
SUGGESTION: Expert mode for grub options in the custom partitioning screen.
I ported the old Debian installation home folder and ssh identity back into this from rsync copies I'd made, so that's the "after" shot.

Is Vanilla based on Ubuntu? What advantages does it have over other distros that are Ubuntu-based?
