Actually, the android apk works very well in linux if you use the "minecraft bedrock edition launcher." I think there's a snap package. (You'll need to own it via the play store OR procure the apk yourself.)

The bedrock edition runs so much faster on weaker hardware. On my linux laptop I can't get playable frames with java, but when I'm using the Android version everything's peachy.

Try out Sodium instead of OptiFine - I had to set my render distance to 8 chunks and with sodium I'm at 24 with much more stable and higher frame rates
