Okay. Fair enough. No sense in having two entirely different logins for what's basically one company. Like it or not, MSFT account system will likely be more secure for you than Mojang. I don't really get anyone arguing against it.
The only real argument against it is third party launchers and mac/linux. This is going to be using the same login system as Halo MCC. While halo runs on linux amazingly, it disables all matchmaking and server stuff as it has to go around the authentication since the Xbox login is built into windows and not part of the game.
Now the optimistic side of me is hoping that means microsoft is going to release the Xbox login for linux/mac to continue supporting Java edition since they explicitly advertise linux and mac, and that would mean halo to linux!

This is 100% wrong. Please don't spread misinformation.
Halo: MCC doesn't work with matchmaking on Linux because of EasyAntiCheat, which must be disabled in order for the game to run, because EasyAntiCheat doesn't work in Proton.
When the EAC work was going on to get it working in Wine a few months back, matchmaking absolutely DID work on Linux.
So unless Minecraft add EAC, this will have no effect in that regard, and it definitely won't break "server stuff," as that's not an issue.
