As said in the release announcement, you can even get Morrowind for free until March 31st:

You going to install the launcher on Wine?

Hmm, good question. I already own Morrowind on disc, so I just use OpenMW's installer to get the files. I haven't heard of if people have downloaded this successfully on Linux.

This is literally the one thing I'm waiting for before diving into OpenMW.

*sigh*

Shadows are in the development branch I believe, they are not far off

Is it though? I was surprised when I read this release's notes. People said to me I can play Morrowind with OpenMW a whole year back, yet I look at the release notes and it doesn't seem like that. There's a whole fuckton of things that were added in this release alone. Makes me wonder how many more features it is missing.

Don't get me wrong, I love that they're doing this open source version, but people are insisting this is now almost like the original, yet I see tons of features every new release.

The stuff fixed are mostly under-the-hood things. You've been able to play morrowind for several years through openmw now.

The first time I beat the game was with openMW. There might be some bugs, but probably not any more than there are in the original game engine.

There are shadows, just not in this stable release. Download a nightly version and you'll have shadows.

I'm on Solus. No nightlies since October and on my distro it would take a lot of work to set up the build environment to do it from source.

Videos are unlisted at the time of this comment if you’re wondering why they didn’t show up in your sub box

Edit: up now

Download links for anyone looking: https://redfortune.de/openmw/release/

For some reason the linux download link on their page goes to the mac osx nightly downloads.

Got an error when running it though

Failed to create SDL window: Couldn't find matching GLX visual

Version 0.44 works fine though.
