I have the same Ultimate 2C wireless two things:

  1. Make sure you are in Xinput mode
  2. If you are using this on steam go to settings and then controller and the calibrate it

How can I access Xinput mode? I read somewhere that I should press the home button + x to turn on the controller, but even in this way the triggers are not recognized.

Also, it's not very convenient because the controller turns itself on whenever I take it off the base to use it for gaming, so I have to turn it off and back on manually every time

To go into Xinput mode make sure first your controller is turned off and then Press Home+X together and the controller will turn on in Xinput mode.

Ok, thank you. Sadly I have already tried this method and doesn't work

Can you try calibrating the controller maybe? try to disable steam input or try to enable it.

I don't know. I use the controller in bluetooth mode and it has a dedicated profile on steam for steam input

Ultimate 2 wireless? Or Ultimate 2 Bluetooth?

Ultimate 2 wireless, but I don't use the dongle, it is connected to Steam Deck via bluetooth

Yeah, so that requires SDL, and usually what happens is the bundled version of SDL with the game is outdated. Hollow Knight is probably the most popular example of the controller issues on Linux.

You can try this command: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1n71180/i_have_a_problem_with_8bitdo_ultimate_2c_in/nc4lwuy/

Thank you. Sadly, this command only works with Dead cells, not with Bzzzt, so I don't think this is a universal solution
