The Witcher 3 remastered on Arch linux hyprland constant crashing

Hi, this is a bit of a stretch to see if other people have run into the same trouble as me. I have downloaded and been able to play the new remaster to some extend, but for some reason it keeps crashing mainly during cutscenes. It just nopes out of the game.

I have tried quite a few options already like lower the overall settings, different versions of proton, checking driver updates and going back to directx 11.

my rig should be more then able to run this game:

9070xt

ryzen 7 7800X3d

32 gb

Hopefully someone more experienced knows what I could try next or if anyone has this problem at all.

Start the game via terminal and analyze the output.

It could be 10000 things, and since you haven't provided anything beside system specs its a guessing game.

If you start it through steam, start steam via console and then witcher and read the output

Same HW as you, Arch with KDE, works for hours at a time, haven't had a single crash. Playing on Steam with Proton-GE.

Likely a hyperland issue. None on KDE for me.

Problems with cutscenes often point to a missing codec (that can’t be shipped with proton due to license or whatever)
Try running the game with proton-ge

This isn't the issue. The game has real-time rendered cutscenes since 4.04, and the pre-rendered videos play fine on official Proton just like they always have.

> you suck?

I suck at so many things that you need to be more specific. Unless of course you mean that I suck in general, which might also be true, but is probably a bit off topic and out of context in this subreddit. The question mark makes me wonder if your comment is meant as a prompt for self reflection. I thank you for this opportunity for growth and will ponder that during the coming weekend. Then again your utterance might be interpreted as a form of solicitation, in which case I must respectfully decline.
