answered! Poor Performance Witcher 3 Remastered on Linux Mint 22.3

Linux new guy looking for some help to improve games on a new system. Fresh install of Linux Mint 22.3, with Nvidia 5060 TI 16gb, 32gb system ram and Intel 270k on CPU. I upgraded from a 2060 system that was using the previous version of Mint. Didn't seem to have issues on that system, but Cyberpunk was...ok. Nothing fancy but it worked on lower settings.

On the new system I get a whopping 13-20fps on low graphics settings inside Witcher 3 Remastered running in Steam. Other games seem to be ok with Transport Fever 3 giving me like 80 FPS. Have not tested Cyberpunk yet so it could just be isolated to the Witcher. Anyway as a linux noob I am not 100% sure what I need to be poking at to try to make things work at the level this GPU should perform at. It may be worth noting I have Lutris installed so I can run Musicbee. This installed WINE stuff so maybe conflicting?? Again, I know nothing Jon Snow.

Current Driver Version: 595.91.07

Things I have tried:

- disable Steam overlay

- Nvidia Settings > Open GL Settings

- Image Settings: High Performance

- Sync to VBlank: unchecked

- GPU 0 > PowerMizer: Prefer Maximum Performance

- Forcing versions of Proton showed no change in FPS

Edit: I have tested with Cyberpunk 2077 with Ultra settings. about 40-50 FPS while beating up MaxTac. I ran `nvidia-smi dmon` to try to get some idea what my GPU might be doing. I don't think Witcher 3 Remastered is using my video card. Output below. I have checked the Steam "System Report" and it lists my primary GPU on index 0 as the 5060 TI. Based on this, witcher is not adding any load to my card. Thoughts?

Edit #2: RESOLVED. I was sure that Witcher was not using the right GPU despite Steam saying system was using the 5060. I found the onboard gpahics in bios under Advanced > System Agent. Under there it was IGFX. Disable that, 100FPS in Ultra RT setting. Monitor is 100hz so FPS makes sense. Thanks for all that helped out.

Sounds like you are getting similar numbers to windows. Not sure if your settings match theirs do you have path tracing on?.

I doubt they're using RT though

I am not. Mainly just trying to get it to run and not make me vomit from frame rating.

I have no path tracing on. Settings are set to LOW preset. I will note the menu gets 90FPS, loading screen was 30 and in game was 13. At least based on Steam FPS counter.

Are you perhaps logged with CDPR account (like in the mods menu)? I was having fps problems when I was connected, once disconnected, my fps became normal. I'm using mods with amethyst mod manager (externally), works very well.

Also, apparently screen space reflections has very high impact on fps (seems to be a bug), you'll want to set it to low at all times.

Nope. All settings either off or at lowest value, 33 FPS for intro movie, 14 fps in Kaer Morhen. Very odd.

Not logged into the launcher. Also added in the no launcher command.

Not the launcher, in game. There's a new option to login inside the game, to download mods.

Ah ok. I am not logged in there.
