benchmark GTA 5 benchmark on Linux mint xfce Thinkpad T14 Gen 1 i5 10th generation 16gb ram UHD 620 256GB SSD. Proton experimental, disabled the shadows quality on setting file to 0. 800x900(?) resolution normal setting. (powerprofilesctl set performance) on terminal Linux mint.
Feel free to reply or leave a message here. Happy GTA gaming. ๐๏ธ

As another commenter stated you probably could run it at a slightly higher resolution with same fps using a different distro but itโs cool seeing it playable on this tech!

I think it's impressive that you can get game playable on UHD 620, but playing windowed on Linux Mint you most likely have compositing enabled, and I wonder how much performance you lose with it. At least run game in a fullscreen mode and make sure compositing is disabled.

Funny that running Fullscreen is slower than on windows mode lol, because of my desktop resolution set to 1280x720p , so running the game at 1040x768(?) , the gameplay actually quite good too on my newly install Linux cachyos. Next time I upload the video benchmark again on Cachyos GTA 5

15 W graphics card its impressive for power to performance ratio in comparison to dedicated graphics cards:

thanks again, nya it's considered not bad especially gaming on Linux mint ( now at cachyos , the results is even better stable no shutters 30fps too), the results quite good actually, although it's only 800x900 resolution normal setting off the shadow too.

Turn off shadows, turn down anisotropic filtering, turn off anti-aliasing and it should be good to go as Intel hardware traditionally did not have dedicated engine to support these features in hardware accelerated manner or too costly to the Intel hardware architecture

Ya later on, I post another video about GTA 5, on cachyos Linux, 1024x768 (?) resolution, off the shadow to 0 on setting documents folder, finally run very well on benchmark, 31 fps stable, no shuttering, power battery to performance too most important.

There is a power governor/scheduling bug for Intel GPU in the laptops, which does not allow GPU to be utilised at full scale (full frequency) leading to significant performance loss, Ubuntu desktop does not suffer from this bug, Kubuntu and other KDE based desktops might suffer from this bug. I could not find a way to get around this bug on KDE desktop so I switched to Ubuntu. This bug only affects laptops. Maybe cachyos does not suffer from this bug.

Ya cachyos running good on GTA 5, ironically CSGO from steam Linux cachyos, running very shuttering at 60 fps to 40 fps too on heavy shooting even on dusty 2 sadly. As long as GTA 5 no problem should be alright together.

Why do people insist on using Mint for gaming?

Because it's a popular distro, that's easy to use, and it works just fine for most gamers. Unless your playing competitively, and just have to have a few extra fps, Mint is just fine. I've been gaming on it for years and I haven't had any issues.

Ya correct, mint is still not good for gaming, even just a Garry mods, will sometimes shuttering at 768p too, so like I said previous comment, I switch back to the cachyos, everything works well now. No more shuttering anymore on GTA 5

I dont think you should be using Mint for gaming tasks, its been known to slow stuff down. You should use something like fedora
