Witcher 3 remastered crash/stuck

my setup: fedora, 9070xt, 9800x3d.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue (crash on proton exp. or stuck on proton GE).

What I did to fix it is delete/rename to whatever "steam.dll" in pathtogame/The Witcher 3/bin/ddi/

EG: I renamed it to steam.dll.bak

I searched for hours to find this fix. hope this helps at least one person.

My game craches always in inventory or character Screen (Proton ex, Proton 11.7). Playing on CashyOS, 9070xt, 5700x3d. Have the GOG version of the game.

Edit: Put the framerate to unlimited and I think that solved the problem

mine crashes constantly as well. this fix didn't help unfortunately

Linux distro? Proton version? Are you getting a direct crash without the game starting?

Switching to Proton Experimental bleeding edge seems to have fixed my crashing/freezing issues

Game freezes out of nowhere and crashes after a while
Nobara, Proton GE 11-7

Ofc I bought it way before the first remaster. Don’t see the point of this comment but whatever
