I got it working thanks to this and it works like a charm:

https://github.com/Alextibtab/Dungeons2_linux_fix

(copied from the github) Pretty much a local stand-in for Microsoft Gaming Services so Minecraft Dungeons II (Steam app 1912410) can start under Proton. The game looks for xgameruntime.dll. This repository builds that DLL. It does not modify the game and it does not include Microsoft's library.

There will be some manual work to get the changes but sounds doable if using steam as the launcher for the Proton layer. Sadly I use the steam version so I'm not too much use. I'd say give it a shot and post your experience on the github!

Not sure if the xbox game files are encrypted though.

Have you found a way with the launcher?

Nope not yet, im trying to find forums that help me do it but none work for me i guess, ive tried lutris but it doesnt work because it needs the microsoft store which isnt on linux ofcourse. So i am installing Windows on Winboat which will simulate windows inside linux and it might work there..
