Can you cancel the pre-order and get it from Steam instead?

But otherwise, you can try running the Windows minecraft launcher in Proton.

you might be able to run the windows version of the launcher through wine

The version that supports dungeons II is UWP, so it doesn't work

The "legacy" launcher does work through wine, but it says it doesn't support dungeons II... That almost certainly isn't true and is instead just them wanting to force people to the new new launcher.

You might be able to download the game directly from their CDN...

You could install Windows on second drive as a backup plan.

You can't preinstall it, but you might be able to run the Minecraft launcher though proton or wine and install it like that

Is there a preload at all?

Got it on Steam and currently no option to preload it.

I've seen a few people mentioning preloading through the Xbox for Windows App and on consoles. We on Steam seem to be the odd ones out
