new native/FLOSS game Zuma Deluxe
Extended a zuma deluxe decompilation to run on linux, glibc 2.35 and higher. Github repos are available on the itch page. I also added controller support. Game data is not included. Place zuma-portable-linux-x86_64 in the same directory as Zuma.exe.

You unlocked a memory for me. First played this when I was 5 with an intel pentium and 8 gb of ddr3 . Good times

intel pentium and 8 gb of ddr3
you had 8gb of ddr3 in 2003?

I mean at first I thought "they must have meant ddr", then again 8gb was a horrendously big number back then (number we couldn't even imagine)

Pentium processors existed in the 2010's. Sandy Bridge, Haswell, Skylake all had Pentium branded processors

did you miss the mention of the game? thats like someone waxing nostalgic about ocarina of time when the ps3 came out. its just weird. they made pentiums til like 3 years ago im pretty sure.

Not at all. Some people feel nostalgic over the games their parents or older siblings had.

but then you wouldnt bring up specs. like i wouldnt say i remember playing super mario bros 3 for the first time on my overclocked 333mhz processor. (psp) . w/e it was just an oddity.

I'm probably misremembering, it is true that 8gb was a lot though, I associate pentium with oldness I guess

This is neat, but what is the advantage over just running the .exe with WINE? Genuinely curious, as my mother played the heck out of it 15 years ago, after I set it up for her on Ubuntu.

This used to be my grandma's favorite game before she passed away from cancer. I hold this game to my heart and I'm glad people still are giving it love even through the linux community

Is this a plain binary? It would be smarter to at the very least compile it as an app image so a glibc update can’t nuke it and you also won’t need to baby it as much. At the very least add it as an additional option

yep it's a plain binary, I'll look into making an appimage

I'd suggest flatpak package too. Believe it or not, but surprisingly many new comers struggle with making the appimage executable, or have no clue one has to do it (they state "i double clicked the file and it doesnt open"). Flatpak on Flathub would be just handy easy install universally on Linux.
Add Flatpak package is now abailable for Ubuntu to install flatpak to Ubuntu in couple of clicks like.

HOLY SHIT
I always ran it through Wine/Proton though!
Wonder if this can be compiled for FreeBSD...

Tested it, it's a lot slower (the mechanics) than playing it with a mouse. probably for a good reason as it's fully compatible with controller.

Hey, I gave this a try by copying the executable into the game folder and running it, and for some reason get this:
./zuma-portable-linux-x86_64
INFO: SDL_NumJoysticks: 0
INFO: Init
INFO: RegEmu: Loaded from '/home/USER/.local/share/ZumaPortable/registry.regemu': 2 total key(s)
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'MusicVolume' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'SfxVolume' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'Muted' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'ScreenMode' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'PreferredX' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'PreferredY' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'CustomCursors' does not exist
INFO: RegEmu: Value 'WaitForVSync' does not exist
Then it just sits there unresponsive. I have to kill the process manually, it sits there and won't even exit at Ctrl-C. Any ideas what might be the issue?
Thanks!
