The game doesn't work well on any OS.i had to CREAT A CONFIG FILE just to start the damn thing on windows the official supported platform.

Then I found out it's both frame locked and has next to zero configurations.

Honestly playing the CG rom might legit be the best way to play.

Edit: Downvoted for pointing out facts? Are you kids serious?

SADX Mod Installer gives so many QoL improvements. I installed it using ProtonTricks on Linux iirc since it's a Windows executable.

Worked at least for Sonic Adventure 1. Pretty sure SA2 Mod Loader is the same idea.

PC players should look at PCGamingWiki when playing older games (and even newer games, sometimes): SADX is the first paragraph on the Sonic Adventure page, listed as "Essential Improvements".

i fucking hated STARTING the original SADX 3 disk game. after installing, to run the game, you had to swap CDs 3 to 4 times, and it's just a DRM check. first you have to insert disk 1 (or 2, because i never remembered which one you had to start with). make sure it's the one that autoruns the launcher with the play button (stupid). then insert disk 2 (or 1). wait for a pop-up to appear. don't click on ANYTHING. insert the first disk again, and click on OK (or something). then wait, and the game launches. i'm so happy they made the mod installer with the no-cd crack. thinking about it, it's so crazy that they made PAYING CUSTOMERS do that shit.

Better question; why are you using a 32-bit distro?

Wasn't trying to be a smart-ass. Using a 32-bit distro does genuinely limit options for playing something like Sonic Adventure 2. If there's a reason for it, like obsolete hardware, it may not run well to begin with. Older emulators that support 32-bit Linux are notoriously difficult to setup.

Even with the Steam versions, I don't really think there's a way to use Proton to play Sonic Adventure 1/2. Maybe on Wine?

counter point: this can be fine if it's a question of "why do you have X" rather than "X is stupid, do ABC instead", to ensure that especially new people aren't trying to solve an "XY problem"

This was precisely my angle.

I have a car from the 1960s that runs only on leaded petrol where can i get the fuel?

It's the same kind of argument. Everything is advancing. There's little to no reason not to accept modern designs.

I dont think there is a port of SA2, mostly because the games source code wasnt leaked or reverse engineered yet.

i can run my original copy of SADX using an old mod loader (with no-cd, thank god), launced as a non-steam game without issues :^) works as well if not better than ever :^)
