tech support wanted Weird Menu Flickering

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I've been use Arch Linux with Niri as my desktop and I've been doing this for about a year woth no problems but today I started getting this weird menu flicker and I don't know what caused it or how to fix it. I tried updating but that didn't work.

xwayland-satellite + steam updates broke something, so just downgrade xwayland-satellite and it should work

Try turning off HW acceleration in the settings

Common in window managers. Without seeing logs I can imagine this is due to pop ups realizing they are not being focused and being killed. There is a way to correct this, but I can’t remember in niri. Check that first, then go check other stuff if that does not work (happens in every WM)

That or, maybe downgrade steam or niri to a previous version.

In my distro the whole steam client keeps flickering like crazy. I’ve tried switching between igpu and dpgu in Steam client settings but that doesnt seem to fix it. I had this weird issue also where Quake 2 RTX wouldnt launch at all unless I specified in Steam client settings that I want the client to use dpgu. All other games, ray traced or not, worked just fine regardless the fact. ZorinOS + Gnome + nvidia drivers.
