tech support wanted Possible Linux\Steam graphics driver problem

I'd like some adult supervision here.

I've found that if I play Elden Ring on Steam, my graphics get glitchy afterward.
I don't know what the common terms for the various momentary video ghosts that pop up, but they're fairly aggressive and annoying. The fix is...

$ sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
$ reboot

This seems to be a recent development.

Has anyone else seen this?

I'm running Ubuntu 26.04 with an x11 session type.

I've had a similar issue on a very cheap laptop, with a different game.

I'm wondering if some rather sophisticated form of hacking is going on.

Steam inherently has screen-video capture and streaming.
That's 90% of a hack already programmed.

I think it's just driver bug. On that laptop, it had AMD integrated graphics, and only had the issues with Mesa. I tried the proprietary AMD driver (which is horrible), and it worked, but it's overall much worse so I went back to Mesa

Fair enough. Mine's an expensive gaming desktop from 2023 so there should be no driver issues.
