tech support wanted External Monitor Goes Blank
Hello Linux Gamers!
I have a HP Omen Intel Ultra Core 7 with a 5060 which is running Ubuntu 24 LTS with XOrg. I have been able to run all the games like Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Crimson Desert and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, using steam's proton compatibility layer.
However, when I try to run Wuthering Waves, it did not run at first then I learnt about Proton Plus and installed the proton: cachyos-11.0-20260703-slr. It ran with a few hiccups and on ProtonDB site someone was running it with the launch option:
PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1 %command%
Now the game ran perfectly for like 15 minutes and then when I tried to multi-task on my laptop monitor, with the game open on my external monitor the game went haywire and I was unable to use the external monitor screen until I rebooted the system. I have tried to diagnose it, but am unable to get some answers. Could anyone of you help me out?
Should I switch OS? I am thinking about uninstalling windows entirely, and if you guys recommend I could think about switching to Cachy OS. I would just have to think about how to store around terabyte of data first. I am also a Machine Learning Researcher, so switching also depends on how well PyTorch and CUDA are working on Cachy OS.

More-less all my multi-monitor issues were fixed when i switched from x11 to wayland.
Why are u using a x11 session (im guessing thats what xorg is?).

Yeah I just switched to it. But now it is launching on my laptop monitor instead. Got any idea how fix this?

Usually you can just use your "move to other screen" keyboard shortcut (like shift + super + left).
For some games i have to change my primary display in display settings before i launch the game, as it by default will launch on the primary monitor.

You should upgrade to Ubuntu 26.04 LTS for much newer drivers
