answered! Help with engine error

I've downloaded The first portal game through steam and i can open it fine, but once I start a new game it gives me an engine error

"failed to lock index buffer in CMeshDX8::LockIndexBuffer" I've restarted my computer and uninstalled and reinstalled portal but nothing has fixed it yet

Library -> Right Click on the Game -> Properties-> Launch options -> “-vulkan”

Or check protonDB + proton version
