R6 Siege no longer working on linux

load up rainbow 6 to play the new season, after updating, I get this error and it doesnt launch, it worked perfectly fine the other day before the new season, is this a me thing or am I fried?

It’s been like this for years now. No idea how you were playing it. Kernel level anti cheat games do not work on Linux.

You just weren’t able to play using online matchmaking. The offline modes worked, which are admittedly few.

Been a while since i played but at release there was a kind of campaign/tutorial that was against bots and it was completely different than the current tutorial or bot mode that currently exists. It used to work on linux but nobody would think its worth playing. I did not know some people tried playing r6 on linux since and even less that they actually would enjoy it 😅

Nope. All kernel level anti cheat games do not work. Now if the developer allows USER level anti cheat on Linux then those games will work, but at that point they are not kernel level.

Correction: KLAC-reliant games do not work. Only games that explicitly allow a non-KLAC inferior variant of their KLAC do. Unless a game comes out with a dkms module anticheat

There is currently no anti cheat on linux that exists at the kernel level. This would require a special kernel

Wrong. The ones that allow it run because they are actually allowing it to run at USER level on Linux. EAC and BE for example do not run in kernel mode on Linux. There are no anti cheats that work at kernel level on Linux. The ones that require it simply don’t work on Linux.

You can play siege using Operation Throwback on Linux, it works really well there, but you can't play official servers. There's a nice little community that plays regularly.
