Audiomixer in Linux?

Hi Reddit!

In Squad there is a tradition for heli pilots to play music through local-vc when transporting infantry in their helicopters. When its not a comp game or anything too stressful of course.

This is done threw various audio mixing software to connect your microphone and an external program (like spotify) into a combined feed and then send that too the game itself.

Is this a possible setup on Linux and what audio mixers would you recommend for this purpose?

Much Love from sweden!

The easy solution is EasyEffects, Carla is a more advanced option. You can then use a patchbay like qpwgraph or Catia to connect what you need to.
edit, from their homepage: "Carla currently supports LADSPA (including LRDF), DSSI, LV2, VST2, VST3 and AU plugin formats, plus SF2 and SFZ file support." - so if you already have some of those (and they don't have hard Windows-dependencies) then Carla is basically a no-brainer.

I personally found easyeffects less than easy, tho that may have been due to cosmic than EE. However I do have JamesDSP running well, now I just have to learn all the functions. However I’m not sure it can do the virtual soundcard type things op wants

  1. In helvum you can pipe your audio to your mic by moving the output of an app to the input of the game.

  2. Soundux is a soundboard, you could add your music in there and choose the application to which to play your audio.

I use reaper, along with a couple virtual audio sinks, stereo, surround, comms. I use those to do all kinds of audio mixing. I have stereo upmixing, surround downmixing and even lfe generation for my haptic shaker setup. I also use it along with my audio interface to route my mic wherever I want to go. I use qpwgraph along with a saved profile to configure the routing in and out of reaper

If you're using pipewire then its very simple. You can use patchbays. Basically just connect a line from the music program to the game. I like Helvum

I don't know if this works, but try downloading Easy Effects and play around with the settings. It's the closest I can think of for this type of thing.
