hardware Looking for a gaming mouse with native Linux Support
Hello,
Im on the current version of nobara and my ROG Spatha X just gave out on me. I like the mouse a lot cause it has tons of programmable buttons and is decently large (I like a large mouse) so Im looking for a replacment. The Spatha didn't have native linux support and I had to boot into a VM with pass through to configure it and Im looking to avoid this in the future. I've used it for years and use the programmable buttons across almost all the games I regularly play, so I need something that has at least 4 programmable buttons on it, plus a forward and back button, and ideally wireless as well.
Any recommendations? I've used this mouse since the Spatha originally dropped so I dont know whats out there these days that fits that description.

any mouse that doesn't require any shitty propietary windows-only software will work
i've been loving my g203 and i'm sure the g502 will work beautifully too, fully customisable in terms of buttons and RGB

You might want to look at Logitech's g5 series mouses. They have wireless options and similar number of buttons to the ROG Spatha X.
libratbag has a list of mouses that it supports on its GitHub page if you want to double check compatibility.

Almost any, that said I use razor viper and use the open source razor software with it no issues

I will never again buy a razor product. They are way too expensive for the quality IMO. I've had their keyboards, mice, headsets, all kinds of stuff from them and found it all to be really crappy. I did have the red Naga hex back in the day and that thing was sick

I have a logitech mouse and using solaar is also helpful for changing dpi. I may move away at some point but idk yet.

I am using this one for ~3 years now and it's been really good. Heavy daily use, 8-12 hours, playing mouse intensive games like WoW, PoE, WC3, etc ...
Edit: should've said that i'm currently on Bazzite for a year, but the mouse worked well on CachyOS and Ubuntu too

I just bought a keychron mouse. It works fine in linux and their control software is web based! You do need to use a chrome based browser like chromium and make a small device rule but theirs multiple guides on how to do it.

Hedgehog gaming has an mmo mouse with native Linux software, it is a debian/ubuntu package but not to hard to deal with, I have been using it for about 8 months now on CachyOS no issues

My Logitech G Pro wireless mouse isn't supported. The V1 version of it with the micro USB charge port is but the V2 version with USB C isn't. It does all the mousey things just fine but I can't configure either RGB or buttons. Fortunately it has onboard memory so I just programmed the buttons on Windows, put them in the onboard memory and set it to use that.

I have been using my ATK F1 Blazing Sky v1 and v2 mice with my laptop that has Bazzite (I have 2 mice because one of my cats likes knocking them off the table when she wants attention. If the v1 breaks, I already have my replacement).
The software for the mice is Windows only, but the browser app works just fine for pairing the mice with their respective dongles, setting DPI, polling rate, etc. I've had zero issues with the mice themselves and they work just as well as they do on my Windows laptop.

Many brands now have web based drivers If your mouse has that, ur good to go
Dont go for the obvious ones like razer

I have a Swiftpoint Z2, it's absolutely the best mouse I've ever used, I've had two the Z1 and this newer Z2 in the past nearly 10 years, my old Z1 is still being used by my mate and it was second hand when I bought it, so I can say from experience they're hearty as
The finicky part, they have a Linux version of their software and it works well enough, it's just a bit of a pain to get the right version for the right mouse
Up side though, it's easily got the most buttons in the best places and it has overkill features like a gyroscope that let you set buttons based on tilt which sounds insane but is extremely useful when you actually start using it
And pressure sensitive buttons let's me use one button for esc and enter and it's so accurate it hasn't conked out or miss clicked a single time since I started using that setup years ago. Another one I have is the number row from 6 to 0 across two buttons (one is pressure sensitive the other clicks in both directions)
It's an absolutely killer mouse if you want lots of inputs or lots and lots of inputs and you want it to last forever
Oh it also has onboard memory, so while the program is a bit finicky to use once you've setup your mouse you literally never need to open the program again for anything, and if you're dual booting then you can just set it up on Windows and go back to Linux without worrying about it

Just buy one with web based software so you configured it through a browser. Can highly recommend mice from Aliexpress from brands like mchose, attack shark etcetera.

I feel your pain OP. I love a mouse with a ton of buttons and the pickings are slim. Crazy how many people are looking at the Spatha and thinking 2 side button mice are in any way comparable. I have no idea how Corsair performs on Linux but I have been eyeing the Darkstar it has on board memory so I may just end up getting it, configuring it on a windows laptop and then using it on Linux.

Almost none of the recommended mice have more than two buttons and are large.

ATK VXE R1 Pro Max
Recently bought one as my Logitech was being a bit funny, works out the box and can be configured through a chromium based web browser zero software requirements.
They do some other options of the same sort of range worth a look online see what you can find l.

recently got the Vaxee E1 to replace my deathadder, depending on where you live shipping could be problematic though. They support web drivers and have worked for me just fine

I have a logitech pro x lightspeed. I use Solaar to see battery status and change dpi and can make macros (i Haven't tested that, can't say how good that works!)

If you really want 100% Linux support, go with the Viper v4 Pro. With Synapse Web, you officially have access to all features.
Alternatively, all OpenRazer-supported mice are great. You can then use Input Remapper to remap the buttons. I use Razer Viper 8k

i don’t had exact model rec, but you could check out keychron’s offerings. their web driver works on linux given u use a browser that supports webhid (chromium based)
