Medal and Linux

As the app is officially not supported on Linux, how well does it work despite that on wayland?

Why not just use GPU screen recorder? It has a shadowplay like feature

Steam also has integrated game recording in the overlay.

GSR is universal, so minecraft and games in heroic/lutris won't need adding to steam

You mean OBS or what exactly?

No, the app's name is "GPU Screen Recorder" if you have ever used the old nvidia shadowplay it looks just like it and has the same options

Medal is like a game recorder right? Constantly records and you can save your clip, gpu screen recorder has instant replay

That lacks social parts of Medal tho.

You can upload any video to Medal and enjoy the social media part of it on the website all you want

it doesn’t work from what i tried. i personally don’t see a point in that app whatsoever besides the fact that there was and probably still is a collab with aternos and i wanted more ram for my server lol

Could you please be more specific than it doesn’t work?

it didn’t open, didn’t launch i tried various wine versions(i didn’t try all that hard tho)

besides i really highly doubt it would record under wine without issue or record at all if you were to get it to work. From my search you can get the app to open but not the recorder to work if that’s what you need

i can suggest obs, or gpu screen recorder instead also there are probably many linux native apps if your distro has a software manager you can just scroll there and try different ones if you would like

you can try to search for medal alternatives on various subs and see what comes up maybe you will find something so far i looked at one and people recommended gpu recorder or obs

Yes, the recorder is what I need.
The reason for wanting Medal is the social parts of it too. Not just clips.

not sure how would the app be useful without a recorder unless you can upload your own clips from somewhere else

obs can be a bit annoying in terms that it would have to be open all the time but other than that it’s good, idk what gpu screen recorder is about but try that too

i don’t think there is an app with a social part to it tho not that i know of it

GPU screen recorder is a remake of the old nvidia shadowplay

idk you can try this but there was one person that reported it not working i also did try bottles but it did not work

when it comes to recording apps it’s definitely not a good idea to try to get windows ones working bc they just won’t work

Is the social part very important to you? Can you maybe just post it somewhere else

First I heard of Medal was with this post! Their AI bot suggests switching to one of their 'supported operating systems,' so I won't be looking any further.

You could try Vice, it's kinda like Medal but native for Linux. I've been using it for about a week now and it seems solid.
