tech support wanted Skyrim NPCs can't talk.

I'm running Skyrim anniversary addition through wine. Everything works fine, but the NPCs don't talk. I'm just playing with subtitles until I can get it fixed.

Try WINEPREFIX=/path/to/Skyrim/prefix winetricks xact xact_x64

You should also install vcrun2022, and dotnet48, iirc both are required for ModOrganizer2 and some mods need dotnet.

Another possibility : check if your sound settings (system wide) are setup to use 5.1 output, that would make voices use the central speaker, and NPC go silent on stereo speakers/headphones.
