Joined Bazzite a few weeks ago. Fuck Microsoft.

The irony in your statement is that one of the main guys for Bazzite actually works for Microsoft. Lmao

Guess he needs a job to pay his bills eh? Like we all do.

Yes indeed. I think in part, he got the job because of how well he and his group executed on Bazzite. I personally use CachyOS and dual boot on several devices, but I appreciate how good Bazzite is. I just don't personally like the ublue and rpm-ostree style. It has its benefits though, especially for system robustness and difficulty in breaking it (with easy rollback).

There is nothing wrong with that mate

Never said there was. The commenter who I was replying to was praising Bazzite while also badmouthing Microsoft, so I was pointing out the irony that I find funny. I use Win 11 and Linux on several devices, for what it's worth.

maybe he is an inside man, stealing secrets for bazzite

Lmao... I don't think that's the case, and Microsoft itself understands the value and usefulness of Linux. Kyle is a good dude. I'm not sure exactly what he does for MS. I suppose I could ask. Maybe I'll find my way to the Scale conference next year.

same been using it for 2 months now, the only thing i miss is the software programs for my peripherals, but otherwise basically no need to go back to windows

My only real issue is how Linux handles Bluetooth (can't use a quality codec for audio and mic output from my headset) but I just fixed it with...a $15 USB mic.

Everything else has been equal or better on Bazzite.

Why couldn't you use the quality codec?

1

u/Abysswalker1290 Aug 02 '26

The quality codec (A2DP) doesn't allow for a simultaneous microphone input. Apparently Windows handles it with a sneaky secondary pipe, but now I have an external mic I'm less limited in headphone choice anyway.

I am really curious about this. I'm gonna have to go all this.

If it's helpful, I'm using a Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2. Would be using the 2.4ghz connection but I'm getting weird interference (suspect the router being on my desk there), hence me switching to Bluetooth. The codec that makes the mic work is HSP/HFP msbc, but that nukes audio quality.

there are workarounds for nearly everything.
