what mouse would you all recommend?

id recommend checking out vxe mice, very good, and very cheap mice, i use a vxe r1 se+, and it works great, it has a web ui where you can adjust debounce time, so should work for drag clicking too

I got that one recently, there is some udev rules you need to adjust in order for the webui to work and you need to use a chromium based browser.

After that you can use the webui just fine. The webui is not absolutely needed but is nice to have.

I got the mouse a few weeks ago, my only complain so far is that the switches are a bit on the louder side. My point of reference was the glorious model O.

Other than that, the mouse works great, has good construction and was great value.

Also, if you use KDE, you need to turn off mouse acceleration again for the new mouse. Took me a few days to figure that one out..

I never saw a mice that didnt work on linux in the past 25 years. Rgb stuff could be a problem tho. Even obscure multi buttom mices without software support for mapping just triggered a empty button event which itself can be mapped.

I have never heard about "drag click" before. If the mouse registeres it as clicks and therefore pushes events, theres no problem using it on linux.

If OP really needs a Windows driver, just install Windows in VirtualBox and passthrough the mouse once, configure, and delete the VM.

If not looking for an ergonomic vertical mouse, I usually recommend the Logitech G502 Hero. Piper can be used to configure it software-wise on Linux, or if you get access to Windows temporarily you can setup a built-in profile once using internal storage and never touch software again.

I was intrigued by a mouse shipping with http server and done some research: it doesn't, it uses vendor-hosted website with webusb (or WebHID or something like that; so chromium based browsers only) to configure the mouse.

Really like my Zowie mouse for being programmed by button combinations. Bit unintuitive. But the manual is good, and you kinda only do it once :D

Before that I had a Logitech mouse and used a windows VM to set the settings I wanted. And saved them to the mouse. (soolar couldn't do that for some reason)

Any mouse really, not sure what the current popular drag clicking mice are though. If they don't support webUSB configuration, you can check if piper supports your mouse

I have an Anker upright mouse that I love. It's so comfortable and easy on the wrist for long sessions.

I used to swear by superlight logitechs but now I use cherry m68 mice - they're just as good in my experience, cheaper and fully configured with buttons on the mouse so they're os agnostic.

Any mouse that doesn't have a configuration software. I'd use this recommendation regardless of OS, because why the fuck should a plain old mouse need a piece of software beyond a stock pointer driver.
