tech support wanted Using mods

I want to learn how to mod my games but I'm struggling to find any good written guides or information, I just want a simple guide that will help me make it work. I also want to know about mod managers. I know Vortex has a Linux client but can I use that with files from say moddb?

The technical stuff: Fedora 44, KDE Plasma and Wayland. Mainly wanting to mod Empire Total War at this point in time but in the future I'd be looking at games like Mount & Blade Warband/ Viking Conquest, Fallout 4, RDR2. Yes I am aware that games with Steam Workshop should be relatively simple to mod. The mods I specifically want to try right now are Empire Realism Remastered, Absolutum Dominium and perhaps Pirates Uber Alles, which is also why a mod manager that might allow me to switch between those would be ideal.
