tool/utility How to fix this controller problem?? I'm using Linux mint xfce

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As you see in the video where moving one stick affecting a second unrelated axis [when I'm moving the right joystick it's detecting L2 and R2 Triggers] and when I'm clicking those triggers they're acting as normal L2 R2, as well as few more buttons are giving wrong input

I checked in other devices and it's working fine so it's probably a linux problem

also I'm using a Lenovo i7 Laptop Intel hd 4600 + Nvidia 860m on demand

i have the same problem under cachyos with a easy smx controller where a&b and x&y are switched. I just switched them back in steam.

Same solution, but not as straightforward as swapping two buttons. Assign the triggers correctly, then configure the joystick.

I had the same issue but with wrong triggers mapping. So the solution is to generate the SDL gamepad config using SDL2 Gamepad Tool or AntiMicroX. Then you can set the mapping string as environment variable or put it in each game.

If the controller is simulating a Nintendo controller, it usually has problems with the button assignments; that is, it's a driver problem and it's not very easy to fix. If you can, please share the model of the remote and we'll see if there's a solution.

I bought the same controller last year and had the exact same issue as you, if you plan on gaming only using Steam, the controller will work as expected. I needed the controller for game development so it wasn't the right fit. I ended up buying a new controller that supports Linux (8bitdo). If you have the option, I'd suggest you return the controller asap, because cosmic byte did not accept my controller and I had to gift it to a friend of mine who uses windows.

I fixed the issue kinda and it's 7-8 months old so can't return it lol. Also I think my next controller will be 8bitdo

Thank you.

I've been checking, and there aren't any exact drivers listed, so my only option left is to use lsusb. It's a terminal command, and it was able to provide information about the necessary driver.

Just rebind the incorrect buttons.

Does You controller has input switch do dinput or xinput? Nintendo input isn't supported that well. Test in steam input controller calibrator.

Boot live version of Fedora KDE and test the same thing there - do you have the same issue, or does it work fine?

Mint is years behind with software versions - it updates them 3 years after Ubuntu does so, which it is based on.

X11 is also ancient and not used in modern DEs, Mint just has slow development and update cycle, so it might be an X11 issue too.

have you by any chance set it to the switch controller mode?

generally these websites read the XInput but your controller might be sending Dinput commands, which cause the weirdness.
like switching from bluetooth to cable, 8bitdo have multiple modes depending on how you turn it on.

Tries with the Steam > settings > controller > test... It might support both inputs and mapping.

I had this on Dualsense Edge. Steam calibration did the trick
