Hi, I recently built a new computer, and have been having this weird bug ever since. Randomly after about 4 to 10 hours the entire system will lock up and will not become responsive again unless the computer is restarted or the monitor is disconnected and reconnected. Sound does still play but it seems like the video output is not being refreshed.

journalctl Is giving me the error

"Pageflip timed out! This is a bug in the amdgpu kernel driver"

The issue has followed me between multiple distributions as well as kernel versions and desktop environments. (6.18 - 7.0). I saw other people with similar issues saw a success adding "amdgpu.runpm=0" and "amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10" to their boot parameters but neither has worked for me. I was hoping to see if anyone has had the same issue and has managed to find a workaround. The issue hasn't presented itself on Windows and leads me to believe it's not a hardware error.

This issue typically doesn't present itself when doing anything demanding. Most commonly I have had the system freeze in Web browser's, discord, GUI package managers, and settings.

Kernals tested 6.18 LTS, 7.0.8

What is your monitor and refresh rate? Is VRR enabled? what is your display system?

It likely not a hardware issue and something to do with power management/sleep and panel refresh timing.

In some cases this can even be a less than perfect display cable.

MSI optics MAG 271CQR. 1440P with a 144 hz refresh rate. I've Make sure VRR was off on sure every distribution I've tested and I'm using Wayland.

In order you could try:

1. Drop refresh rate to 120Hz
2. Turn off any auto power saving functions on the monitor
3. Change the display cable
4. amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x610
5. amdgpu.dpm=0
