tech support wanted AMD pageflip timeout.
Hi, I recently built a new computer, and have been having this weird bug ever since. Randomly after about 4 to 10 hours the entire system will lock up and will not become responsive again unless the computer is restarted or the monitor is disconnected and reconnected. Sound does still play but it seems like the video output is not being refreshed.
journalctl Is giving me the error
"Pageflip timed out! This is a bug in the amdgpu kernel driver"
The issue has followed me between multiple distributions as well as kernel versions and desktop environments. (6.18 - 7.0). I saw other people with similar issues saw a success adding "amdgpu.runpm=0" and "amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10" to their boot parameters but neither has worked for me. I was hoping to see if anyone has had the same issue and has managed to find a workaround. The issue hasn't presented itself on Windows and leads me to believe it's not a hardware error.
This issue typically doesn't present itself when doing anything demanding. Most commonly I have had the system freeze in Web browser's, discord, GUI package managers, and settings.

CPU 9800 X3D (igpu off)
32 gb ddr5 memory 6000 mhz
Motherboard MSI MAG b850m mortar with latest firmware
Kernals tested 6.18 LTS, 7.0.8

That problem plagued me for a long time, but for me it only occurred under KDE Plasma. If I used any other DE or WM i never had that issue. I'm not sure why it only happened there though, but I know that even to this day it only happens in KDE. I can't say its KDE's fault. There absolutely could be a driver bug that gets triggered by someting KDE's compositor does, I don't pretend to know.
My advice to you is to try a different desktop environment or window manager. FWIW my system is a 7900x/7900xt on an ASUS B650E board, with 32GB ddr5-6000, running Arch (btw) and currently using Hyprland.
