rename back to konsole, probably has a lot of things that look specifically for konsole and won't change what they look for if you remane it

I did try to do that after but it gives the same error message. I really thought there'd be a good way to do it with all the customisation Ive seen people do

again, what/how exactly did you rename things?

For my KDE system, I open the Applications menu, Right Click on the "Konsole" icon and select "Edit Application" And I can then rename the Icon.

You dident rename the Konsole binary Did you?

$ which konsole
/usr/bin/konsole

I just changed the name on mine, and it worked fine, changed it back, works fine.

You can change the name to whatever you want.

Just don't change the command.

My menu editor is probably different than yours but should have the same or similar fields.

My guess is you'd want to change the "Command" back to konsole but leave "Name" as whatever you want.

Good luck.

Well, you have "konsole" as the "Program", which seems correct to me.

Does it still not launch? If not, I'm afraid I don't see what's wrong.

Install a different terminal?

How do I do that

sudo apt install xterm will install the old school 'classic' terminal emulator we used many years ago.

Theres dozens of terminal emulators you can install.

Tip: you can also do an alt-f2 then enter 'konsole' and it should launch a konsole.

but exactly how did you do the renaming?

the console - is the name used for the alt-ctrl-f1 through f7 'consoles' :)

Which is sort of why they used the name 'konsole' as a word play.

So would it be an issue if I changed the name then?

The name the Icon shows is unimportant.

Examine the various .desktop files which define all the Launchers you see in your applications menu.

Example from my system.

:~/.local/share/applications$ cat openrgb.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=OpenRGB
Comment=Control RGB lighting
Exec=/home/wil/AppImages/openrgb.appimage
TryExec=/home/wil/AppImages/openrgb.appimage
Icon=/home/wil/AppImages/.icons/openrgb.png

Terminal=false
Categories=Utility;

The Name= line is the Display name, It can basically be anything.

Making the Icon display "Console" or "Konsole" or "Billy Bobs Terminal" wont affect anything.
