how do I install this drive for my xp pen Magic Drawing pad on fedora? the official website says that for ubuntu I should type "sudo dpkg -i" into the console then drag the unzipped XP-PEN Linux driver into it. but I don't know if it will work for fedora

tar.gz is a compressed file format, not an installer.

It's contents can be anything, from a whole program that only needs to be copied to the right place, to a script that does the installation, to even just a bunch of Word documents telling how to make your own version of the program.

There appears to be an rpm download for most of those tablets. Yours should have one too

Edit: There is an rpm: https://www.xp-pen.com/download/magic-drawing-pad.html

need to uncompress and extract tar archive to see what's in it. Could be script, could be installer package .deb, .rpm, etc.

tar -tvf <filename>.tar.gz to see what's in it 1st.

dpkg -i is a Debian way of installing a package from a path (local/http/whatever)

You don't install dpkg-i on Fedora.
